Notes on the manganese ores of Brazil

C. F. Park, A. L. M. Barbosa, J. V. N. Dorr, and P. W. Guild

Classifies manganese oxide ore deposits of Brazil into three types--original sedimentary beds deposited contemporaneously with the enclosing rocks, as at Morro do Urucum; beds intercalated in itabirite which underwent regional metamorphism and subsequent concentration by weathering; and deposits derived from the near-surface weathering of manganese silicate-carbonate-sulfide protore, as at Morro da Mina.
