Alpine lead-zinc ores of Europe

Similarities in age relations, mode of occurrence, mineralogical composition, and sequence of mineralization among the lead-zinc deposits of the Bleiberg- Kreuth district, Carinthia, Austria, and the nearby mining districts of Raibl, Italy, and Mezica, Yugoslavia, indicate that the ores are of similar origin, and were deposited from solutions which were moderately to strongly acid in composition. It is concluded that lead-zinc ores of Mississippi valley type throughout the world were probably formed from acid solutions.
