Banded iron formations

In connection with a paper by Spencer and Percival on banded hematite jaspers of Singhbhum, India, reaffirms the conclusion that the intricate folding and crumpling characterizing certain Precambrian banded iron formations took place prior to complete crystallization of the deposits, the silica and iron having been laid down in a colloidal state.
