What killed Corycium enigmaticum?

In connection with critical discussion of the status of Corycium enigmaticum from the Precambrian of Finland, believed to be the oldest valid fossil, reaffirms the conclusion that the isotopic constitution of carbon may be used as a criterion of its biogenic or nonbiogenic origin where no conflicting geologic evidence exists, and notes that there is geologic, geochemical, and isotopic evidence for the biogenic origin of Corycium.
