Platinum deposits of Ethiopia

E. W. Molly

Platinum occurs in small amounts in the dunite core of a basic intrusive complex in the Yubdo district, western Ethiopia, and in exploitable quantities in the lateritic clays overlying the dunite and its weathering product, a hard brown rock consisting chiefly of silica and iron oxides (birbirite), and in alluvial gravels along the present and former courses of the Birbir and tributary streams.
