The origin of hard hematite in itabirite

Charles F. Park

A review of field and other evidence from deposits in Brazil and other localities throughout the world leads to the conclusion that many occurrences of hard hematite ore in itabirite result from processes of normal weathering. Those formed by migration and concentration during regional metamorphism are considered less numerous.
