Notes on a non-genetic classification of copper deposits

Paul Gilmour

A 7-group classification of Cu deposits based on the nature of the host rock rather than on genesis of the ore is proposed. Advantages of the classification include permanency in the face of varying theories on origin of Cu and adaptability to new Russian and Canadian tectonic maps.
