The Northern Rhodesian copperbelt; is it a classic example of syngenetic deposition?

Joseph L. Gillson

Comments on the syngenetic theory of origin advocated by some but not all contributors to the volume on the geology of the Northern Rhodesian copper belt, edited by F. Mendelsohn, and urges that students of economic geology read the entire volume (and particularly those sections in which evidence for hydrothermal origin is noted), together with certain other recent literature on the petrology of the rocks of the copper belt and the geology of the Katanga deposits.
