Metallogenetic belts, centers, and epochs in Argentina and Chile

W. C. Stoll

Three metallogenetic belts are distinguished, each related to a major geosynclinal orogenic-magmatic belt--an easterly Precambrian belt, a central belt of Hercynian deformation and mineralization, and a western Laramide belt. Late Tertiary deposits are scattered without regard to these earlier mobile belts. Quaternary volcanism along the Andean crest gave rise to sulfur and borate deposits.
