Cesium, rubidium, and lithium are abnormally abundant in beryllium- and fluorite-bearing tuffs, beneath a capping rhyolite. The rare-alkali elements are not associated with montmorillonite, and boiling experiments suggest they may be adsorbed on mineral or glass surfaces. The concentrations are attributed to hydrothermal solutions, and their preservation to aridity of the climate.
