Origin of the Precambrian iron formations

Nelson Hogg

Discussion of the Lepp and Goldich paper (Econ. Geology, v. 59, no. 6, p. 1025-1060, 1964) offers the thesis that iron formations may result from both weathering and volcanic processes. Uniformity of iron content is probably overemphasized.
