Chalcopyrite can be dissolved at the hotter end and recrystallized at the cooler end of a reaction vessel in the presence of certain solvents in the general range 400 degrees -450 degrees C. Chloride solutions are effective, particularly ammonium chloride. Syntheses may take place with NaHS and ammonium hydroxide.
