Chalcopyrite, with minor galena and pyrite, makes up 0.1 percent of fossiliferous concretions in siltstone of the Silurian Eastport Shale in Maine. Equigranular epidote and quartz are major constituents of the concretions, and chlorite and calcite are minor. There is no evidence for epigenetic mineralization. Decomposition of organic matter is considered to be the precipitating agent.
