Certain ore bodies have been worked for gold as well as quicksilver. The gold-mercury ratio increases toward the center of the district and downward, suggesting zoning about a high-intensity core and a common origin for both metals. Since gold is deficient in surrounding sediments, of the two possible sources for the ore fluid suggested by Moiseyev, the magmatic seems the more likely. (Original paper, ibid., v. 63, p. 169-181, 1968.)
