Quantitative analysis of polymetallic orebody zoning at Rangpo, Sikkim

A. K. Ghosh

A graphical and statistical analysis of metal (Cu, Pb, Zn) ratios at the Bhotang mine (India) establishes the absence of a zonal arrangement, except for horizontal zoning defined as highly inconspicuous. 'It is suggested that the ore solution carried the metals as complex ions and that the rates of change of stability of the metal ions, in a fluctuating physico-chemical environment, were responsible for the divergent precipitation from one continuous flow, giving rise to an irregular pattern of concentration of the different metals.'
