Determining fineness variation characteristics in gold ores by reflectometry

H. V. Eales

Determinations of the gold content of natural gold-silver particles by reflectometric methods give results for the mean fineness of concentrate samples that correspond closely to those derived from assay or production data. Reflectometry is thus useful in studies of grain-to-grain variations. 'With sufficient determinations, a characteristic distribution of the fineness values in certain ores may become apparent.'
