The Lindgren Award is offered annually to a young scientist whose published research represents an outstanding contribution to economic geology. I have a great deal of sympathy for the Lindgren Award committee in having to choose just one candidate each year; however, I believe their choice of Anthony Harris as the recipient of the 2004 award was an excellent one.
Anthonys nomination was based on a track record of exceptional achievement in the areas of geochemistry and economic geology since the completion of his Ph.D. research in 2002. Over the past few years he has, first, authored five publications in leading international journals, including Science. Anthony has demonstrated good scientific judgment in choosing globally significant ore systems to study and cutting-edge technologies to apply in his research.
