When I received this book, I was first struck by the cultural gap between the authors and me. Here was a book entitled Exploration Geophysics that contained less than four pages of text on magnetic and gravity methods, and nothing at all on radiometric or electrical methods. The remaining 258 pages were almost entirely devoted to seismic methods in the United States. As someone who has largely worked in potential fields and radiometric surveys on the far side of the world, I was at first inclined to return the book to the Society and apologize for wasting its time. Clearly, the audience for the book would be those interested in oil and gas exploration, although even among those geologists, all of the above geophysical methods are presently being used, at least to some degree, in regional exploration.
Before I did this, I read the foreword, which explained the purpose of the book. The authors . . . [Full Text of this Article]
